6th Interiors Pakistan Exhibition From 25th

LAHORE: (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Nov, 2016 ) : After holding a series of five consecutive successful mega furniture exhibitions, the Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) announced its three-days the sixth Interiors Pakistan exhibition at Expo Center here from November 25.

Addressing a press conference here Monday, PFC Chief Executive Mian Muhammad Kashif Ashfaq said the exhibition would promote furniture and associated products made in Pakistan at local and international level.

To a question, he said the council was expecting more than 50 leading companies and interior designers would display their products in the mega exhibition. He said Interiors Pakistan was a step towards initiating international trade exhibitions and to enhance the possibility to participate in international exhibitions as a collaborative industry from Pakistan.

The Pakistan furniture industry had a great potential and the council predicted that increased exposure through Interiors Pakistan would highlight skill and talent in the country. This exhibition would also provide the younger designers and architects to see the market trends and display their own work, he added.

He said: "The vision behind Interiors Pakistan is to create a space for furniture display and promotion across the country. The national exhibitions groom local producers to access the international markets and increase their potential markets.

" To another question, he said the government should declare funiture sector as industry and provide all relevant supports that would enable the local furniture manufacturers to not only cater to the furniture demands in the country and also increase its production to export level.

He said the Pakistan furniture industry had a potential to be a substantial one at multiple levels as it could contribute significantly to the GDP and employ numerous people with varying skills in specialist furniture.

"The PFC is also continuing its work to develop the country's presence in more countries and to act as the focal point for Pakistani furniture designers and manufacturers to enter international market," he said and added that it, however, required concerted efforts to ensure that raw material was available, skills were taught and quality control was achieved," he added.

Pakistan's wood industry was well developed and captures 95 per cent of the country's total market for furniture. The country had more than 700 units of wooden furniture with Chiniot, Gujrat, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi being important centres. The market was divided into home use and contract markets, constituting supplies to hotels, restaurants, offices and public facilities.
