CCP Issues Show Case Notice To Pharma Bureau, Others After

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Nov, 2016 ) : The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has issued a show cause notice to a group of multinational pharmaceutical companies after completing an inquiry against them for their involvment in unlawful activities.
The notice was issued to companies for violating Section 4 of the Competition Act, 2010, an official of CCP told APP here on Monday. He said, the Commission took suo motu notice and conducted the inquiry against Pharma Bureau and its members for unreasonably increasing the prices of various medicines through unlawful practices.
To a question, he said, the CCP has imposed penalty on private and public sector organizations for indulging in deceptive marketing practices in violation of Competition Act, 2010.
Replying to another question, he said, the CCP is mandated under the Competition Act, 2010 to ensure fair competition in all spheres of commercial and economic activity.
He said that CCP is committed to maintain transparency for enhancing economic efficiency and to protect consumers from anti- competitive practices including deceptive marketing. He said, the CCP continues to work towards promoting healthy competition in all spheres of commercial and economic activity and to protect consumers from anti-competitive behavior.
