PAT to challenge verdict against arrest of 107 workers in LHC

PAT workers had protested against Model Town massacre, but now they have become captive of the oppressive system: Dr Qadri

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 20th April 2019) Pakistan Awami Tehreek Dr. Tahirul Qadri has said he is grieved at the sentence of 107 party workers on charges of damaging public property.

They had protested against Model Town massacre, but now they have become captive of the oppressive system.

Speaking with senior party leaders through Audio link, he said the party would challenge the verdict and in this context, a committee is formed comprising of senior party leaders, who will also look after jailed party workers. He said it is painful to see that those who orchestrated gory drama of Model Town, ruthlessly killed even female workers with impunity in presence of Media, criminally trespassed his residence; they are yet roaming scot free.

“Even officers who ordered mass killing of innocents, and those who blindly obeyed their seniors, they are yet to undergo departmental inquiry. On the other hand, those who demanded justice, they have been sentenced.”

Qadri said PAT had have decided to challenge the verdict against the arrest of 107 party workers in Lahore High Court.

“Five years have been passed but the victims of Model Town Incident are kept deprived of their right to an impartial investigation. Not a single culprit has been punished to date. On the contrary, those people who stood up for justice have been put into prisons.
