Russian Deputy Prime Minister Asks for President's Support on 5G Network Development

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov on Friday asked President Vladimir Putin for his support in the development of 5G networks in the country

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th April, 2019) Russian Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov on Friday asked President Vladimir Putin for his support in the development of 5G networks in the country.

"There is one more important issue, and it definitely requires your support ... as the commander-in-chief and as the head of state conversion of the frequency range, the 5G issue ... The situation is complicated there ... The upper range [of frequencies] 3.4-3.8 gigahertz is reserved mainly for special purposes ... The relevant decisions are needed to speed up this work, we will coordinate this in the government. But we would also ask you to issue such instructions," Akimov said.

The deputy prime minister asked for a possibility to report on the progress of the initiative regularly at the council on national projects headed by Putin.

"This would provide significant support for the project," Akimov said.

The deputy prime minister remarked that 5G networks would allow Russia to have the mobile internet that would be cheaper than in Europe or he United States.
