ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -11th nov,2016) : Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage said the government was working towards fulfilling all promises made in PML-N manifesto including combating extremism and energy crises, bringing economic prosperity and implementing health and education reforms 2018.
These views were expressed by her during her visit to various media houses in the Federal Capital on Friday. She said she felt a great sense of pride and honour to have the opportunity to serve Pakistan at a time when promises were transformed into delivery, and sincerity and resilience of Nawaz Sharif for Pakistan was being rewarded.
She said due to efforts of the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan of 2016 was a Proud Pakistan. Marriyum said power loadshedding had been reduced to only three hours a day, while in 2013 people had to suffer 16 to 18 hour power outages.
Moreover, she said 85 per cent decrease noticed in the incidents of terrorism was unprecedented. She said the country had witnessed economic turn around, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project was being termed a game changer, record fall in inflation had been witnessed and foreign reserves had witnessed record increase.
The minister said all the political parties should work together towards making CPEC a successful investment for the future generations of Pakistan. The political parties should not do political point scoring on projects like CPEC.
She said she was fortunate that she got the portfolio of Information Ministry at a time when Pakistan was becoming developed and advanced under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said the government was taking measures to improve lives of people and that the gas facility would be provided to far flung areas. She said the government's unprecedented Health Insurance Scheme and educational reforms were launched to benefit people across Pakistan by providing them with health and medical facilities at their doorsteps.
The minister said PM's educational reforms programme was being carried out on priority basis, and under the Education Reforms initiative, over 400 schools were being provided with improved and upgraded physical infrastructure and quality education interventions to improve the learning outcomes of public sector schools.
She said one of her priority was to effectively utilise the platform of external publicity Wing to promote positive stories from Pakistan. She said millions of people in Pakistan and abroad watch tv channels and mould their opinion, so it was the shared responsibility of government and media houses to promote a positive and real image of progressive and safe Pakistan.
The minister said security and safety of media houses was top priority of the government and required legislation was being done in this regard. The bill would include, she said, all aspects related to safety and security of journalists. She said the draft would be shared with key stakeholders to make it a robust and complete legislation for the benefit of journalists.
