Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 15th April, 2019) Bahria Town, one of Pakistan’s largest real estate developers owned by property tycoon Malik Riaz, is building the world’s third largest mosque in Karachi.

The mosque has been named Grand Jamia Mosque, Karachi. It will also be known as Bahria Town Jamia Masjid Complex.

The construction of the mosque is currently in progress. The complex is under-construction on hilltop 60 ft (18 m) in Bahria Town, Karachi.

When completed, the complex will include the world's third largest mosque. The mosque, which is being designed in line with Islamic and Mughal style architecture, will have the capacity to accommodate 800,000 worshippers at a time.

“Masjid-al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah and Masjid-e-Nabvi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Medina are the two biggest Masjids in the world. There can be no Masjid holier than these, thus respecting their sanctity, the third largest Masjid will be built in Bahria Town, Karachi,” Bahria Town said in a statement.

Previously in 2014, Bahria Town had built Grand Jamia Masjid in Lahore which is Pakistan’s biggest mosque and the world’s seventh largest.

The Grand Jamia Mosque in Lahore has the capacity to accommodate 70,000 worshippers in total besides an indoor capacity of 25,000.
