PESHAWAR, (Pakistan Point News - APP - 11th Nov, 2016 ) : Unseeded Saqib Umar, seeded Barkat Ullah and Yousaf took berth into the semi-finals of the ongoing IGP Khurshid Alam Khan Memorial Tennis Tournament being played at Synthetic Courts of the Qayyum sports Complex on Friday. In the quarter-finals unseeded Saqib Umar defeated Nouman Khan 6-2 and 6-1 in one-sided affair, seed no. 4 Barkat Ullah, who recently won ZTBL Under-18 National Tennis Championship in Bagh-e-Jinnah Lahore, took no time in defeating Shoaib Khan 7-6 (6-6) and 6-1.
Barkat Ullah faced little resistance against Shoiab Khan in the first set otherwise he dominated the proceedings. In the other quarter-final Yousaf Khan upset second seed Ejaz Umar in a thrilling encounter by 6-3 and 6-3. In the Under-14 quarter-finals Shoiab Khan, the top seed of the age group, defeated Azmat Ullah 6-1 and 6-2, second seed Aqib Umar beat Uzair Khan by 6-0 and 6-1 in a one-sided affair. In the other matches seed no. 4 Abdullah beat Hamid Israr by 6-1 and 6-3 and Kashan Umar upset top seed Hamza Roman by 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3.
The match between Kashan Umar and Hamza Roman provided great thrill for the sitting spectators as both gave each a tough fight. Hamza Roman, the national top ranking player, in the Under-10 category, recently won ZTBL National Ranking Tournament held in Lahore, gave a denting task to Kashan Umar but at the end, Kashan took the match in three sets battle. In the Under-12 category Kashan Umar Hamza Roman moved to the final after securing victories against their respective rivals in the semi-finals. In the first semi-final Kashan beat Hamid Israr by 6-3 and 6-2, while little master Hamza Roman eliminated Shahsawar by 6-2 and 6-1.
