Russian Investigative Committee Says Opened Cases After IS Suspects Neutralized in Tyumen

Investigators in Russia's Tyumen city launched two criminal cases after two suspected members of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) were neutralized, the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement on Saturday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th April, 2019) Investigators in Russia's Tyumen city launched two criminal cases after two suspected members of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) were neutralized, the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement on Saturday.

The Russian Federal Security Service said on Friday that an anti-terrorist operation had been launched after the suspected IS members, planning to carry out a terror attack, had been located in one of the residential buildings in Tyumen. They were later neutralized by the Russian law enforcement officers.

"A criminal case has been opened for offenses under the articles of the Russian Penal Code 'Preparation of the murder of two or more persons' ... and 'causing violence to life of a law enforcement officer'," the statement read.

"At the house, where the attackers were located, two Kalashnikov assault rifles, two improvised explosive devices, religious literature, electronic information carriers, parts of explosive devices were found and seized," the statement added.
