Pakistani filmmaker wins awards at New York Film Festival

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 11th April, 2019) Talented Pakistanis continue to make the country proud as documentary filmmaker Shehzad Hameed Ahmad has won two awards at the New York Festivals 2019.

The filmmaker won the Silver World Medal in the History and Society Category for his documentary ‘The Rise and Fall of Mujib’.

He also received a Bronze World Medal in the Community Portraits Category for ‘Nepal’s Child Brides’.

Shehzad had traveled to Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan to shoot these documentaries.

Sharing the news on his Twitter account, the filmmaker said, “So @NYFestivals 2019! The Rise and Fall of Mujib wins Silver World Medal in the History and Society Category! Nepal's Child Brides wins the Bronze World Medal in the Community Portraits Category!”

He congratulated his teams in Bangladesh, Nepal and in Singapore.

Shehzad’s entries to the festival were made through Singapore's Channel NewsAsia.
