Weekly Inflation Decrease

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Nov, 2016 ) : The weekly inflation for the week ended on November 10 for the combined income group witnessed decrease of 0.25 percent as compared to the previous week.
The Sensitive price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 220.45 points against 221 points registered in the previous week, according to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) here on Friday.
As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 0.32 percent. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007 2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8000 decreased by 0.24 percent as it declined from 212.74 points in the previous week to 212.24 points in the week under review. As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 to Rs 12,000, Rs.
12,001 to 18,000, Rs 18,001 to Rs 35,000 and above Rs 35,000 also decreased by 0.25 per cent, 0.
26 percent, 0.26 percent and 0.24 percent respectively. During the week under review average prices of 9 items registered decrease, while 12 items increased with the remaining 32 items' prices unchanged.
The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included chicken (farm), tomatoes, gur, mash pulse, sugar, red chilly (powder), vegetable ghee, garlic and moon pulse.
The items which recorded increase in their average prices included LPG Cylinder, eggs, bananas, potatoes, cooked beef, wheat, masoor pulse, georgette, gram pulse, onions, firewood and wheat flour (bag).
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review include rice basmati (broken), rice (irri-6), bread, beef, mutton, milk (fresh), curd, milk (powdered), mustard oil, cooking oil, vegetable ghee, salt powder, tea (packet), cooked daal, tea (prepared), cigarettes, long cloth, shirting, lawn, gents sandal, gents chappal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, kerosene oil, electric bulb, washing soap, match box, petrol, diesel, telephone local call and bath soap.
