Pak Embassy In Jakarta Holds Seminar To Highlight Atrocities In IoK

ISLAMABAD , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Nov, 2016 ) : The Embassy of Pakistan, Jakarta, in collaboration with Islamic and middle East Research Centre (IMERC) organized a Seminar titled, Human Rights Violations in Kashmir to highlight the ongoing human rights situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir as assessed by the independent NGOs and UN Human Rights Commission.
The seminar held Thursday at the University of Indonesia was attended by large number of students, faculty members of University of Indonesia and media persons. The panelists included Ambassador of Pakistan Mohammad Aqil Nadeem, Chairman IMERC Mr Hendra and Vice Chairman IMERC Mr Khalil.
Ambassador Aqil Nadeem quoting the various UN Resolutions urged upon the international community to push for implementation of UN Security Council a free plebiscite.
He apprised the audience about the historical background of the Kashmir issue.
He described the Kashmiris' right to self-determination as their fundamental human right. He said the Kashmir dispute is as old as the Palestine dispute and the Muslims of Kashmir expect support of the Indonesian brothers in their just cause.
Mr. Hendra, Chairman IMERC urged the Indonesian people to support the cause of Kashmiris self-determination right. A documentary on indiscriminate use of pellet guns by the security forces on Kashmiri masses was also shown to the audience.
A booklet providing details of the Kashmir dispute was also distributed amongst participants. The seminar was followed by a Question & Answer Session, wherein, the speakers responded to the? queries of audience.
