WikiLeaks To Hold News Briefing On Wednesday On New Criminal Case Against Assange

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th April, 2019) The WikiLeaks non-profit organization that publishes classified information and news leaks provided by anonymous sources will hold a news briefing later on Wednesday about a new criminal case involving its creator, Julian Assange.

"WikiLeaks will be holding a press briefing about a new, wholly unexpected, criminal case involving Julian Assange escalating current tensions," the organization said in an email sent to reporters as cited by the UK Express media outlet.

The news briefing is scheduled for 10:00 GMT and will present audiovisual material to attendees and hold a question and answer session.

In attendance will be WikiLeaks Editor-in-Chief Kristinn Hrafnsson, lawyers Jenifer Robinson and Fidel Narvaez, and a former Ecuadorian consul to London.

On Thursday, WikiLeaks tweeted that it had received information from a high-level source that Assange would be expelled within hours from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he has been hiding since 2012, following extradition threats from Sweden and the United States. The Ecuadorian Embassy said on Tuesday that it was not planning to expel Assange.
