Power tariff increased by Rs0.81 per unit

The prices have been increased under fuel adjustment formula. It will put a burden of Rs 3.15 billion on consumers. 

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 9th April, 2019) The government has increased the electricity prices yet again.

According to media reports, power tariffs have been increased by 81 paisa per unit.

An official notification has also been issued in this regard. The new prices will be implemented on electricity bills of the ongoing month.

The prices have been increased under fuel adjustment formula. It will put a burden of Rs 3.15 billion on consumers.

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) Thursday approved to increase the power tariff by Rs 0.81 KWh on account of fuel price adjustment for the month of February.

Central Power Purchase Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G) in a petition had asked to increase Rs 1.23 per unit in power tariff for the month of February under monthly fuel adjustment formula.

In a petition submitted to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the CPPA-G maintained the cost of per unit remained at Rs 5.2014/kWh against the reference fuel charges of Rs 3.9710/ kWh per unit fixed for February.

A total 6,425.29 Gwh electricity was generated during the said period and the hydel share stood at 22.77 per cent, coal 17.46 per cent, Furnace Oil 1.68 per cent, Gas 23.85 per cent, RLNG 16.89 per cent, nuclear 11.13 per cent wind 3.18 per cent and Baggasse 1.47 per cent.
