Senate Functional Committee On Devolution Calls For Early CCI Meeting

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Nov, 2016 ) : The Chairman of the Senate Functional Committee on Devolution, Senator Mir Kabeer Muhammad Ahmed Shahi, has called for early convening the meeting of the Council of Common Interest (CCI) for addressing problems of the provinces.
He said here on Thursday that if the process of devolving powers to the provinces in accordance with the 18th amendment had been completed then there would not have been any need to form this committee.
Talking to media persons after a meeting at the office of Chief Secretary Sindh, he said that it is our endeavour to ably complete the devolution process in collaboration with the Centre and the four provinces.
Senator Mir Kabeer said that we have heard the point of view of the Government of Sindh and will also hold meetings with the governments of the Punjab and KPK to arrive at some better result soon.
He was of the view that meeting of the CCI should be held within 90 days' time. He maintained that not holding of the meeting at regularly leads to problems by the provinces for the resolution of their problems.
Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, briefed the members of the Committee about the distribution of funds among provinces and the Centre regarding natural resources.
Federal Minister for Port and Shipping Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo briefed regarding Korangi Fish Harbour whereas Federal Secretary National health and security gave a briefing on health problem and issue pertaining to Lady health Workers.
Meeting was attended by Committee members Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Tahir Hussain Mashahdi, Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar, Saeed Ghani, Atta ur Rehman and Sassi Palejo.
