Assange Told Ecuadorian Judge of Being 'Assassination Risk' - Court Transcript

Julian Assange, a founder of the WikiLeaks whistleblowing website, who now may risk losing refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, told the court in late 2018 that he had received assassination threats, according to a transcript released by WikiLeaks

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th April, 2019) Julian Assange, a founder of the WikiLeaks whistleblowing website, who now may risk losing refuge in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, told the court in late 2018 that he had received assassination threats, according to a transcript released by WikiLeaks.

Assange's lawyer Carlos Poveda told Sputnik last week he considered certain moves by the Ecuadorian authorities as signs of their intention to expel the activist from his asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he had been living since 2012. Meanwhile, WikiLeaks claimed the Ecuadorean government had made a deal with UK authorities that Assange would be arrested.

"The emails of our journalists were seized, many assassination threats were made, a great deal of illegal spying was conducted and, in that context, I asked the Ecuadorian government for asylum ... There have been attempts by people to get into this embassy through the windows at night. It appears that there may have even been an attempt last night, at 4.30 am. I am an assassination risk. It is not a joke," the court transcript dated October 29 read.

Ecuadorean Foreign Minister Jose Valencia on Friday denied WikiLeaks' claims that Quito wanted to hand Assange over to London.

Assange has expressed fear over potential extradition to the United States as WikiLeaks has released large troves of classified US government's documents.
