LHC restricts NAB from arresting Hamza Shahbaz till Monday

LHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan approved Hamza Shahbaz's protective bail on Saturday.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 6th April, 2019) The Lahore High Court (LHC) has restricted the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz till Monday.

LHC Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan approved Hamza Shahbaz's protective bail on Saturday.

The court ordered NAB not to arrest Hamza Shahbaz till April 8, Monday.

The chief justice has formed two member LHC bench to hear pre-arrest bail plea of Hamza Shahbaz.

The NAB team once again arrived at the Model Town residence of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to arrest his son and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz for involvement in money laundering on Saturday.

They said that they have arrest warrants against Hamza Shahbaz.

Hamza Shehbaz had challenged NAB arrest warrants against him in the LHC earlier today.

The LHC has fixed the plea for hearing seeking pre-arrest bail of Hamza Shehbaz. A two-member bench of the LHC comprising Justice Malik Shehzad and Justice Waqas Rauf will take up the case for hearing on April 8.

The petitioner pleaded that NAB conducted illegal raid at his home as LHC has already ordered the NAB to inform him before arrest.

Hamza had requested that his arrest warrants should be suspended immediately and action should be taken against NAB under contempt of court.

Meanwhile, the Accountability Court in Lahore had allowed the NAB to arrest Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz for involvement in money laundering.

The court ordered the NAB to implement orders arrest orders against Hamza Shahbaz.

The court had however directed the NAB to avoid using force, adding that he should be arrested from his house with the help of police.

Model Town, Lahore turned into a battleground as NAB team attempted to arrest Hamza Shahbaz.

The PML-N workers gathered outside Hamza Shahbaz’s residence in Model Town resisted the arrest.

A large number of party workers were present at the venue. They raised slogans in favour of their leader. Female party workers were also present.

The police tried to resist the PML-N workers and baton charged them.

Anti-riots force and heavy contigents of police were present at Model Town to manage any law and order situation.
