MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th April, 2019) Russian Foreign Ministry's Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Thursday slammed NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg's statements equating Stalin, Hitler and the Islamic State terror group (IS, banned in Russia).On April 3, Jens Stoltenberg addressed the US Congress. In his speech, he noted that an increase in NATO members military budget was necessary since "enemies of freedom" that NATO would have to curb in the future may once again "choose violence" like Hitler, Stalin and IS had once done.
"I would like to speak about Stoltenberg's statement. While addressing the US Congress, he put Hitler, IS and Stalin on a par, saying that it was impossible to hold Stalin back; he tried to follow some absurd historical and logical line. It [the statement] is not even that inappropriate, it is just a stupid statement," Zakharova said.
She also stressed that the Russian Foreign Ministry's representatives of a high level had already commented on this statement.
