LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Nov, 2016 ) -At least three labourers were killed while six others received severe burn injuries as a factory caught fire at Ravi Road here Thursday morning.

According to Rescue 1122 spokesman,fire erupted at a factory and killed two labourers---22 year old Javed and 45 year old Jahanzaib sleeping there. Another boy who had rushed to inform other labourers about the blaze also lost his life.

The Rescue team sent the bodies to nearby hospital for autopsy. All the injured labourers were shifted to hospital. According to police officials,investigation has been started to find the reason behind the fire incident.

Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has announced financial assistance amounting to Rs. 9 lakh each to the heirs of three victims of Ravi Road. The heirs will be given Rs.

4 lakh as compensation money from Punjab Government and Rs. 5 lakh as death grant from Punjab Workers Welfare board as permissible in rules. Minister Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has ordered District Officer Labour Lahore Ch.

Nasarrullah to hold immediate inquiry into the incident and submit a comprehensive report to his office within 24 hours. According to initial information provided by DOL Ch. Nasarullah, the incident occurred at Z.A.

Garments, Ravi Road due to short circuit causing death of three asleep workers due to suffocation and burn injuries. He said the factory has been sealed and detailed inquiry was in process for fact findings to hold the persons responsible.

The inquiry report will be submitted to Minister Labour and concerned quarters after completion of investigation within the given time frame,he concluded.
