Motorcycle Production Up By 12.66 % 2 Months

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Nov, 2016 ) : The production of motorcycles increased by 12.66 percent during the first two months of the fiscal year 2016-17 compared to the production of the corresponding period of last year.
The production of motorcycles stood at 376,379 units during July-August (2016-17) compared to the production of 134,078 units during July-August (2015-16), according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
On year on year basis, the production of motorcycles increased by 16.41 percent as it went up from 178,748 units in August 2015 to 206,078 units in August 2016. Meanwhile, During the first two months of the current fiscal year, the production of buses increased by 62.82 percent by going up from 156 units during July-August 2015-16 to 254 units in July- August 2016-17 whereas the production of trucks increased by 59.95 percent from 749 units last year to 1,198 units during the current fiscal year.
However, the production of tractors during the period declined by 9.68 percent by going down from 5,295 units last year to 4,784 units this year. The production of jeeps and cars witnessed negative growth of 2.14 percent during the period under review compared to the corresponding period of last year.
As many as 29,365 jeeps and cars were manufactured during the period compared to the production of 30,008 units last year. The production of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) also witnessed decline of 30.71 percent by going down from the output of 6,910 units during last year to 4,788 units during the current year.
Meanwhile, on year on year basis, the production of jeeps and cars witnessed negative growth of 0.
69 percent by going down from the production of 16,932 units in August 2015 to 16,815 units in August 2016.
The production of LCVs declined from 3,840 units during August 2015 to 2,798 units during August 2016, showing negative growth of 27.14 percent. The production of buses and trucks during the month under review increased by 47.87 percent and 61.08 percent respectively compared to the same month of last year.
As many as 139 buses and 686 trucks were manufacture during August 2016 compared to the production of 94 and 426 units Respectively in August 2015. The production of tractors increased by 5.60 percent in August 2016 during which the output was recorded at 2,717 units compared to the production of 2,573 units in August 2015, the PBS data revealed.
It is pertinent to mention that the country's large scale manufacturing (LSM) witnessed growth of 1.97 percent during July- August (2015-16) compared to the corresponding period of last year. The Quantum Index Numbers (QIM) of large scale manufacturing industries was recorded at 122.18 points against 119.82 points during same period of last year.
The highest growth of 1.24 percent was witnessed in the indices monitored by Provincial Bureaus of Statistics (PBOS) followed by 1.10 growth in the indices of Ministry of Industries and 0.37 negative growth of Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC) indices.
On year on year basis, the industrial growth increased by 1.49 percent during August 2016 as compared to same month of last year while on month on month basis, the industrial growth decreased by 6.03 percent during March 2016 when compared to growth of February 2016, the data revealed.
