Awais Shah halts transporters from charging excessive fares in Sindh

Sindh Transport Minister Awais Shah on Tuesday directed transporters to refrain from charging excessive fares from the commuters in the province

KARACHI (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 02nd April, 2019) Sindh Transport Minister Awais Shah on Tuesday directed transporters to refrain from charging excessive fares from the commuters in the province."Fares to remain unchanged as Sindh has already rejected hike in petroleum prices", Shah said in his statement issued here from Karachi.He also advised citizens to contact his ministry or traffic police if they were excessive charged by the transporters.

On Monday, Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) President Irshad Bukhari had announced that transportation fares will remain unchanged despite a hike in prices of petroleum products.While talking to media, Bukhari had said that the owners of the vehicles' were mostly using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) up to 90 per cent while 10 per cent buses were using diesel.Earlier on Sunday, the Federal government had announced to raise petrol price by six rupees per litre from April 1.Prices of petrol and high-speed diesel were increased by Rs6 a litre each. While, prices of kerosene oil and light diesel were hiked by Rs3 a litre each.The new petrol price was fixed at Rs98.89 a litre and high-speed diesel price at Rs117.43 a litre.Similarly, light diesel oil price and kerosene oil price is Rs80.54 and Rs89.31 per litre respectively.
