Conference at EU parliament urges for massive awareness on Kashmir

MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Nov, 2016 ) , : Speakers at a conference at European parliament in Brussels on Wednesday called for the Kashmiri diaspora based in different parts of the world specially European Kashmiris to increase global wide awareness in order to help oppressed people of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK).

A conference titled, "The Struggle of Kashmiri Diaspora: Constrains and Resources" held under chair of Member of EU parliament Afzal Khan on the second day of Kashmir EU-Week at European parliament.

The week-long program `Kashmir EU-Week' was inaugurated by Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan in Brussels, an AJK govt spokesman said here Wednesday. The speakers of the second day conference also called the international community specially European Union to help oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir in the context of their right of self-determination.

Addressing the conference, the Prime Minister of AJK Raja Farooq Haider said, India is trying to remove the international attention from severe violation of human rights in IHK.

He added that firing on line of control (LoC) by Indian border forces became matter of routine and the situation at the LoC became severe and due to the Indian attitude the dream of peace in the region came in danger.

He said " we as Kashmiris should keep the Kashmir issue in the radar of international community". Calling the EU forum as an important diplomatic spot of the world, he said," we should engage EU to help the oppressed people of IHK.

EU should take notice of human right violation". Chairman Kashmir Council EU, Ali Raza Syed expressed hope this conference would effect for useful and united efforts on Kashmir. He said, Kashmiris in both sides of Kashmir and abroad are one nation and hardships of people in IHK is common pain for all of the Kashmiris.

He expressed his gratitude to AJK's PM and other guests for participating in the conference.
