Senate Functional Committee On Devolution Meets

KARACHI, Nov 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Nov, 2016 ) : Chairman of the Senate Functional Committee on Devolution, Senator Mir Kabeer Muhammad Ahmed Shahi said the goal being pursued by the committee was to ensure devolution of power to provinces in accordance with the true spirit of the 18th amendment.
He was talking to media here Wednesday after chairing the meeting of the committee at the Chief Secretary Sindh's Office. "Our efforts are to remove any reservations and to empower the provinces fully," he added.
The Chairman of the Committee said implementation of the Parliament's decision was our real task. He was of the view that in 2010, 17 ministries were devolved to the province through the 18th amendment but full devolution of some ministries still remains.
It was further pointed out that some provinces had reservations and we would try to remove the reservations of all the quarters.
The Chairman of the Committee also called for regular holding of the meetings of the Council of Common Interest (CCI).
Senator Sassi Palejo was of the view that the Government of Sindh was working for provision of better facilities to the people. Senator Atta ur Rehman called for enhanced liaison of Centre- Province for effective devolution to the provinces.
The meeting was attended by Committee members Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Tahir Hussain Mashahdi, Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar, Saeed Ghani, besides provincial ministers Muhammad Ali Malkani, Mumtaz Jakhrani,Abdul Qayyum Soomro, and others.
The committee would also meet on Thursday and the Minister for Port and Shipping would brief about the ship fire at Gadani Shipbreaking Yard. APP/hrm-rak/msk/ati � 20:07/20:09/20:09
