Strong EC Effective Deterrence Against Corruption: Khattak

PESHAWAR, Nov 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Nov, 2016 ) : Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that an autonomous and powerful Ehtesab Commission is an effective deterrence against corruption.
The provincial government, he said supports ruthless accountability acorss the board. He was presiding over a high level meeting at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. Chief Minister said his government wanted governance, free from corruption and irregularities.It wanted transparency at all level of governance therefore, the institutions should deliver in consonance with the peoples aspirations, he added.
Pervez Khattak said he talked about the accountability to be balanced and should serve as a deterrence that should lay hands on big fishes. We want to eliminate corruption at the top that will automatically stop corruption at the tail.
Otherwise, the entire exercise would feel to achieve the desired goals, he added.
I have personally seen the loot and plunder in the past and the rulers left behind a tail of corruption he added.He said it was strange to see that the system was effective against the lower level of corruption but it miserably failed to spurn into action against the dacoits.
However, he said he was not against above the law action but the system should be so transparent and effective that it did not disrespect the people unnecessarily until proven guilty and the system needed to deliver for the free corruption province, he added.
The Chief Minsiter said his government put the province on the track to development, it ensured transparent distribution of resources, however, it would accrue desired result provided the institutions started delivering in a more balanced and transparent manners, he concluded.
