Australia thrashes Pakistan in fourth ODI

Imad-11 failed to achieve 277 runs target in 50-over game and made 271 at loss of eight wickets.

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 30th March 2019) Australia beat Pakistan by six runs in the fourth ODI played at Dubai’s cricket stadium on Friday.

It is the fourth defeat of Pakistan in a row in the five-match home series against the Aussies. Two centuries by Abid Ali, who made debut 100 in ODI cricket, and by wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan could not help the host to save the match. Pakistan made 271 scores at loss of eight wickets in the 50-over game.

Shan Masood and Abid Ali opened the innings for Pakistan in response to Aussies but it met the first blow when Coulter-Nile dismissed Shan at duck. Muhammad Haris appeared after the fall of Haris Sohail wicket, who scored 25 off 43 balls, and made a solid partnership with the young opener. Abid Ali made 112 off 119 balls while Haris scored 104 off 102 balls but both could not lead Pakistan to victory. Zampa dismissed Abid while Stoinis took the wicket of Haris in last over. Umar Akmal made 7 before bowled out at Coulter-Nile delivery. Saad Ali made seven in his debut while Imad Wasim scored 1. Usman Shinvari made six while Yasir Shah and Junaid Khan went not out on three and duck.

Coulter-Nile took three wickets and MP Stoinis dismissed two players. Richardson, Lyon and Zampa took one wicket each.

Earlier, playing first the visitors made 277 at the loss of seven wickets. AJ Finch and Usman Khawaja opened the innings and made a partnership of 101 runs. Muhammad Hasnain took the first wicket of Finch at 39 followed by three dismissals of the visitors without entrance into two digits by any bat. Imad Wasim dismissed SE Marsh at 5 and PSP Handscomb at 7 followed by MP Stoinis dismissal at two on Yasir Shah’s delivery.

GJ Maxwell played a solid inning for the visitors and made 98 runs at 82 balls with the help of nine boundaries and three sixes before being run out by the hands of wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan on a throw of Shan Masood. AT Carey made 55 off 67 balls while NM Coulter-Nile made 2 not out. Opener Khawaja made second highest 62 off 78 balls with the help of six boundaries. Hanain, Imad and Shah took two wickets each. Aussies made 277 for the loss of seven wickets.
