ISLAMABAD, Nov 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Nov, 2016 ) : The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking disqualification of Javed Latif, a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).
A division bench of the apex court headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmad heard the case against Election Tribunal decision. A voter Muhammad Afzal from Javed Latif's constituency NA- 133 (Sheikhupura-II and Old Sheikhupura III) had filed the petition alleging that he had fake graduation degree.
During the course of proceedings, the bench remarked that a voter cannot challenge qualification of any candidate.
Kamran Murtaza appeared before the court as counsel of the petitioner and informed that Javed Latif held fake degree.
He said that according to Article 62 & 63, Javed Latif is not a 'Sadiq and Amin' and pleaded the court to disqualify Javed Latif. Justice Manzoor Malik remarked that Javed Latif's degree was declared correct as it was challenged after 2008 General Election. He remarked that degree was not required to contest 2013 general election.
