HESCO chief declares power theft a major cause of load-shedding

HYDERABAD, Nov. 09 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Nov, 2016 ) : The Chief Executive Officer Hyderabad Electric Supply Company Asadullah terming power theft as major cause of load-shedding has said that all out efforts were being made to curb the crime and to control the line losses in order to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers.

He expressed these remarks while speaking as chief guest at a reception hosted by Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry here late Tuesday night. He said that both the people and employees of HESCO were involved in power theft and the management was taking stern legal action against those employees who involved in this menace.

Numbers of HESCO officers and employees have been dismissed from services under the same charge while many others were also facing departmental inquiries, he informed. The law abiding people particularly the business community should also extend cooperation in this respect and point out such persons who were involved in power theft so that prompt action could be initiated against them under relevant laws, he added.

The HESCO Chief informed that issuance of detection bills to consumers has been stopped and the cases of those who already received such bill were being dealt accordingly on individual basses and substantial proofs.

While admitting the negative impact of HESCO being developed among the people particularly the business community, the HESCO Chief said that whenever the HESCO management succeeded in its task of eliminating power theft, the situation will be improved and the consumers will receive uninterrupted power supply.

He informed that the management also initiated stern action against such meter readers who submitted excessive reading while all out efforts were also being made to minimize the incidents of PMT faults.

He invited all those applicants who applied for electricity meters but still did not get the same to contact him as the management has already drawn a clear policy in the regard. The President HCSTSI Muhammad Akram Ansari in his welcome address lauded the efforts of the CEO Asadullah for bringing reforms in the organization and hoped that the issues being faced by the business community of Hyderabad would be considered and resolved at the earliest.

Among others, Chairman SITE Association Hyderabad Shahid Ghouri, former Presidents Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Haji Muhammad Yaqoob and Haji Yousuf Suleman, Senior Vice President HCSTSI Sikandar Ali Rajput, Vice President Doulat Ram Lohana and members executive committee Nadeem Siddiqui, Pervez Fahim Noorwala, Shoukat Khayam, Saleemuddin and office bearers of various traders unions were also present in the reception.
