Government cancels briefing on National Action Plan

Opposition parties refuse to attend the meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 27th March 2019) The government has canceled the briefing to leaders of political parties on the National Action Plan.

The meeting was scheduled to be held on Thursday but it was canceled after the opposition parties have refused to attend it, according to media reports.

The government had invited all parliamentary parties for the meeting in Islamabad.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told journalists that PML-N, PPP and JUI-F leaders had informed about their unavailability due to political consideration. Therefore, he added, the government canceled the meeting.

He said PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif had informed him through a letter about his unavailability. The opposition leader said the government should inform the parliament about progress on NAP.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari are not attending the meeting due to their concerns on NAP and military courts and they informed Qureshi about it on phone.
