Farogh stresses for adopting modern means of Legal Education

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Dr. Muhammad Barrister Farogh Naseem has stressed the need for keeping abreast of modern means and times especially for the students acquiring legal education

ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 27th March, 2019) Federal Minister for Law and Justice Dr. Muhammad Barrister Farogh Naseem has stressed the need for keeping abreast of modern means and times especially for the students acquiring legal education.He was talking to the Law students of International Islamic University, at a Seminar titled "Legal Education in Pakistan: Opportunities and Challenges" on Wednesday.The Law Minister said our Parent Law is from Allah and Quran has emphasized the need to acquire education right from the First Revelation �IQRA'.

He told the students legal education, and knowledge in legal matters is vital today as laws impact all walks of life. Even the matters related to all the Government Ministries and departments come to the Law Ministry so that their suitability and feasibility is determined from a legal point of view. Nelson Mandela once said "Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world".He said the idea of legal education is to make students learn the ethos of a particular subject or concept of law.

He said there is a need for practitioners of law to identify legal problems and provide solutions in order to form a just society.He further said in order to have command over law; one must have command over the language in which he or she acquires the knowledge of law. He also referred to Supreme Court's decision of 2015 that directed the courts to adopt urdu as court language.He said while teaching law our main emphasis has to be on the relationship between law and society and law and human rights.

He said different reading techniques are required to be taught to the students so that they are able to deal with different questions, problems and even their dissertations.He said we have to encourage the students to keep an eye on legislation and court decisions in the other parts of the world in order to be aware of the modern developments and to be able to make use of those modern developments.Rector International Islamic University, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law Dr. Muhammad Tahir Hakeem also spoke at the occasion.
