Business industry witnesses decline in KP

Business industry in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa witnessed declined in the past eight years, credible sources said on Tuesday

Peshawar (Pakistan Point News / Online - 26th March, 2019) Business industry in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa witnessed declined in the past eight years, credible sources said on Tuesday.According to details, a total of 2,982 factories are registered with the government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa; of which 2,293 are operational and 362 factories have been closed citing poor environment for business activities.Out of a total 854 factories, 751 factories are operational and 72 are found closed in Peshawar, credible sources said on Tuesday.

In Swabi, a total 163 factories are operational and 132 have been closed. As many as 85 factories had been closed for unfavorable environment there.Of a total 307 factories in Haripur and Abbottabad, 169 are operational and the rest have been closed. In Nowshera, 190 factories are operational and the rest has been closed citing poor law and order situation.According to National Liberation Federation, only 15 paisa were spent on laborers per day in the past eight years and if unregistered laborers added in the figure this would raise to 20 paisa per day.

After the 18th Amendment, the department of laborer was dissolved to the provinces. An estimated 2 million are registered laborers in the province.National Liberation Federation President Talal Muhammad and General Secretary Falak Taj said the provincial government had allocated Rs30 million for the welfare of laborers in the province during the fiscal year 2010-2011.
