LANGKAWI (Malaysia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 26th March, 2019) The Russian Knights aerobatic team will make its first appearance on the latest Su-30SM multirole fighters at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), head of delegation of the Russian state tech corporation Rostec Viktor Kladov told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"After a two-year hiatus, the Russian Knights aerobatic team returns to Malaysia's skies. For some time now, they are not performing on the Su-27, but on the Su-30SM. The famous team was re-equipped. If you compare figuratively, it is like swapping out a Volkswagen for a Mercedes," Kladov said.
He stressed that the capabilities, including maneuverability and power, of the Su-30 were much larger than those of the Su-27. The pilots will showcase unique aerobatics that will attract the attention of specialists and spectators, Kladov noted.
This year's edition of LIMA started earlier in the day on the Langkawi archipelago and will last through Saturday. It has been held biennially since 1991 and is considered one of the largest shows of military equipment in the Asia-Pacific region. The event is co-organized by the Malaysian Defense Ministry.
