Macron Welcomes Syria's Full Liberation From IS Terrorists

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed on Saturday full liberation of Syria from the Islamic State (IS) terror group (outlawed in Russia)

PARIS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd March, 2019) French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed on Saturday full liberation of Syria from the Islamic State (IS) terror group (outlawed in Russia).

On Saturday, the SDF released a statement that the last remaining pocket of the IS terrorist enclave in Syria's eastern village of Baghuz had been defeated, marking the end of the "caliphate" that the organization established in 2014 amid a civil war in Syria.

"The Syrian Democratic Forces declared that the last IS stronghold had fallen. I want to praise our partners and troops of the international coalition, which includes France. They decisively fought terrorists for our security," Macron wrote on his Twitter page.

The president pointed out that the victims of the Islamic State would never be forgotten.

"The significant part of threat to our country has been eliminated. However, the threat remains and the fight against terror groups must be continued," Macron added.

The Islamic State is an international terror organization that is actively disseminating ideas of radical islam across the world. The group seized huge territories in Syria and Iraq in 2014, which were later retaken by the countries' respective governments.
