Russian, Japanese Deputy Foreign Ministers Discuss Arms Control Issue at Bilateral Talks

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and his Japanese counterpart, Takeo Mori, discussed arms control issue during their bilateral security talks, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and his Japanese counterpart, Takeo Mori, discussed arms control issue during their bilateral security talks, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

"We exchanged views on current global affairs and regional security, including issues of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, arms control and measures to address new threats and challenges," the ministry said.

Both deputy foreign ministers were accompanied by officials from their respective countries' defense ministries.

On Thursday, Mori met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov to discuss ongoing negotiations on the Russian-Japanese peace treaty, which was never signed between the two nations following the end of World War II due to a territory dispute.
