At least three persons including one police personnel, one security guard and a driver were martyred and two persons were critical injured in separate incidents of firing in Karachi Friday

KARACHI (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 22nd March, 2019) At least three persons including one police personnel, one security guard and a driver were martyred and two persons were critical injured in separate incidents of firing in Karachi Friday.According to police the first incident was took place at Nipa Chowrangi where armed motorcyclists opened fire on a car and fled from the spot.Police said that injured persons were shifted to hospital where security guard succumbed to their injuries while Molana Amir Shahab is in critical condition and admitted at ICU Jinnah Hospital.

Police further said that the second incident took place at Shahra-e-Faisal Nursery, where one Police personnel was martyred and one person was injured.The injured were taken to the Jinnah Hospital. Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital, Dr. Seemi Jamali, confirmed that Maulana Amir Shahab is alive but in extremely critical condition. However, his security guard, who was identified as Sanobar Khan, succumbed to his wounds, Jamali added.Mufti Zubair confirmed that Mufti Usmani was targeted in the attack.

His son Imran Taqi confirmed his father is fine. His grandsons and wife were also in the car and were also unharmed.The attackers opened fire on Mufti Shahab's silver Toyota Corolla when it was exiting the bridge on the ramp leading to Aladin Park.Inspector General Sindh Police Dr Syed Kalim Imam said that renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani is remained safe in the second incident of firing.Police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies cordoned off the areas and started collecting the evidences.

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali took the notice of the incidents and summoned reports from Karachi Police.Chief Minister Sindh said that arrest the assailants as soon as possible and bring them to the justice and directed to enhance patrolling in the city. He wants to know how this happened and why. He has ordered more patrolling in Karachi and stricter security at mosques in the city. Murad Ali Shah also ordered the provision of medical facilities to those injured.

On one hand, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in-charge Raja Umar Khattab has said that two terrorist incidents occurred in Karachi's Nipa and Nursery areas.Khattab said that the attackers possibly belonged to the same group who were distributed in separate teams to carry out the terror attacks.While briefing media, the CTD official said that a security guard Sanober Khan was killed in Nipa's firing incident and left Maulana Amir Shahab severely wounded.

He added that a security guard was also killed in the Nursery's attack on the second vehicle.Superintendent Police (SP) Gulshan Tahir Noorani said that the attackers stormed both vehicles moving from Nipa flyover at University Road. He said that a security guard was killed in the first car but the driver managed to cut and run from the site.Sindh IG Kaleem Imam said that Maulana Taqi leads the Friday prayers at Baitul Mukarram and was on his way there when he was targeted. A police gunman was killed in the incident, he said, adding that they are investigating. NNI
