Suspects In Amjad Sabri's Assassination Remanded Into Police Custody

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Tuesday remanded into police custody for two weeks, two suspects, allegedly involved in targeted killings including the murder of eminent Qawwal Amjad Sabri.
An administrative judge of the ATC handed over Asim aka Capri and Ishaq aka bobby to police on physical remand. The police produced the suspects amid tight security in a case registered for possession of explosive material and illegal weapons.
The suspects were also involved in a case for murdering eminent Qawwal Amjad Sabri, personnel of Army and the police. The investigating officer (IO) informed the trial court that the suspects were arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) from Liaquatabad area of Karachi.
The police claimed that 6 kalashnikovs, 8 pistols, 2 rifles,7 hand grenades, ball bearing and bullets were recovered from their possession during an encounter in Liaquatabad No.02 near Nayab Masjid by a special team led by CTD officer Raja Umar Khitab.
Upon the request of the police, the trial court allowed to keep suspects into police custody till November 22 for the investigation. The court directed the police to submit a progress report in the next hearing. Currently, the suspects were remanded for possessing illicit weapons and explosive material.
