Govt to extend MSP to D I Khan, Mingora, Dir

PESHAWAR, Nov 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to extend Municipal Services Program (MSP) to cities of D.I Khan, Mingora and Dir to improve sewerage system and tube wells besides replacement of rusted pipes with an estimated cost of 1.5 billion rupees.

The decision to this effect was made in a meeting headed by Senior Minister for Local Government & Rural Development Department Inayatullah here on Tuesday. Meeting among others was attended by Project Director Municipal Services Program, Riaz Mehsood, Chief Executive Officer Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar, Mingora, Dir and D.I Khan and Tehsil Municipal Officers of D.I Khan, Mingora, Dir.

D.I Khan. Briefing the participants, Riaz Mehsood said that consultant has been hired for the purpose which would collect data, conduct survey and prepare summary. He added that under the project, Primary and secondary drains would be constructed nine Union Councils in urban areas of Mingora including Rahimabad, Gul Kada, Malakaman Landay kas, Saidan, Amankot, Rang Mohallah, Malook abad, Shah dara Nawa Kally and Banr.

Similarly fifty two tube wells would be improved and rehabilitated while rusted and leaked pipes in Mingora city would be replaced.

These three projects would cost one thousand million rupees. He further added that primary and secondary drains and 14 tube wells in eight union councils of D.I Khan City would be rehabilitated.

The rusted and leaked pipes would also be replaced and cost 800 million rupees. He said that sewerage system of Dir City would also be constructed and rehabilitated adding water treatment plants would be installed and gravity based water supply system would be improved and extended to Dir.Rusted and leaked water pipes would be replaced and extended to areas of Dir city.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Inayatullah said that under umbrella of MSP, 147699 meters drains had been cleaned, 26000 meters water supply pipes had been rehabilitated, 22 blocked public toilets and 71250 meters drains had been rehabilitated with financial implications of 5000 million rupees.

He said rehabilitation of 41356 meters drain, 134 tube wells and construction of four public toilets were in progress and be completed soon in Peshawar city. He further added that drainage system of Tehkal Bala and Payan would be upgraded and waste water treatment plant of Hazaar Khwani would be rehabilitated. APP/mds/rn
