Education Imperative For Socio-economic Development: KP Governor

PESHAWAR, Nov 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Tuesday stressed the need for promotion of education for socio-economic development and prosperity in the country.
Presiding over the Senate meeting of University of Swabi here at Governor House, he said it is imperative to make the education system in accordance with the challenges of modern days. The meeting approved budget 2016-17 for the university, while Vice Chancellor University of Swabi Professor Dr Noor Jehan briefed the meeting on budget 2015-16 and performance of the varsity.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that research based education should be maintained by the institutions of higher education, adding Students are the precious asset to contribute a pivotal role in making the country developed in accordance with the present day needs.
With quality education, imparted today to youth he added, our nation will come at par with socio economically developed countries of the world. Indeed the universities can play immensely vital role in creating cream of nation by providing quality education, he noted.
The Governor urged the University administration to ensure utilization of funds with transparency and in accordance with the financial action plan. The meeting beside others was also attended by the advisor to Chief Minister for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Vice Chancellor University of Swabi Prof.
Dr. Noor Jihan, Secretary Higher Education KP, representatives of Higher Education Commission and members of the senate of the university.
