87 Suspects, Three Proclaimed Offenders Arrested In Capital

ISLAMABAD(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Islamabad Sajid Kiani has directed police officials to ensure high vigilance and effective patrolling in their respective areas especially around worship places.
In a directive, he also asked for crackdown against professional alm-seekers and suspects. Begging is a social evil and all efforts should be made to curb it, he said and directed for vigilance against such elements at markets, avenues and signals.
Following his direction, Police spokesman said that Islamabad Police have started efforts to curb the menace of begging and take prompt legal action against beggars. Islamabad Police, he said, arrested 10 professional beggars during the last 24 hours while search operation was conducted in various areas resulting the arrest of 87 suspects and three proclaimed offenders, he said.
He also directed heads of all police stations to ensure registration of cases against professional beggars after arresting them.
The SSP said that mischievous elements wander in the city in guise of beggars and strict action is needed to curb such activities.
Sajid Kiani also ordered for strict checking at entry as well as exit points of the city and strict security arrangements at mosques, Imambargahs and markets. Similarly, police started checking of vehicles during general hold up and impounded 354 bikes as well as nine vehicles being driven without documents during the last 24 hours.
Sajid Kiani has said that the purpose of this high vigilance is to ensure peace in the city and every effort would be made to ensure protection to the lives and property of citizens. He has also appealed the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them. APP/muk/mir
