Physical remand of NADRA official granted in corruption case

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : A civil court of Islamabad Tuesday granted a two-day physical remand of former NADRA's employee allegedly involved in corruption during posting in Kuwait.

Senior Civil Judge Humayun Dilawar heard the case registered by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Inspector FIA Raja Wajid informed the court that the accused Adnan Akram had allegedly embezzled 8.2 million rupees in line of issuance of CNICs during 2010 to 2012 in Kuwait.

The accused had confessed the crime and had offered to return the money through installments, he added.

The official informed the court that the accused had been working from 2003 to 2016 in National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA)'s office located at Pakistan's Embassy in Kuwait.

After the scam disclosed, FIA registered a case against the accused on complaint of Deputy Director NADRA Qamar Nawaz. After hearing the arguments, the court granted two-days physical remand of the accused and directed FIA to produce Adnan Akram on November 10.
