The foreign and defense chiefs of Japan and the United States will meet for negotiations in Washington on April 19, local media reported on Wednesday

TOKYO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th March, 2019) The foreign and defense chiefs of Japan and the United States will meet for negotiations in Washington on April 19, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to the Kyodo news agency, the talks will be focused on the enhanced activities of China's People's Liberation Army Navy. Japanese Defense Minister Takeshi Iwaya and acting US Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan together with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono and US State Secretary Mike Pompeo will, in particular, discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the context of the concept of free and open Indian Ocean.

The politicians are also expected to discuss joint military exercises in the East China Sea and South China Sea, the news outlet added.

The consultations between the defense and foreign ministers of the two countries were for the last time held in August 2017.
