Cases' Weak Pursuance Causes Rs 400 Bln Loss To Exchequer: PAC Informed

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : The audit authorities Tuesday informed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that as per 10 per cent audit of the Federal ministries and divisions around Rs 400 billion could not be recovered from the concerned due to weak pursuance of 502 cases in courts.
The meeting of PAC was held here on Tuesday at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah which was attended by members including Junaid Anwar, Rohail Asghar, Syed Naveed Qamar and Rashid Godail.
The committee asked Attorney General Ashtar Ali Ausaf to make a comprehensive strategy for recovery of this amount and present a report before the PAC by January 30, 2017.
Secretary Law and Justice Karamat Hussain Niazi told the committee that there were a total 502 court cases of the ministries and divisions since 2003 to 2016.
The Chairman of the Committeed also asked officials of the ministry of Law and Justice to givea detailed briefing about court cases. Attorney General for Pakistan assured the committee that a conference of secretaries would be convened and SOPs would be prepared by January 30, 2016.
