PESHAWAR, Nov 8 (Pakistan Point News - APP - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani Tuesday said, Bomb Disposal Unit's jawan were performing most dangerous and sensitive duty against terrorist in a very professional and courageous manner by putting its precious lives at risk. This, he said while addressing a cash and reward distribution ceremony held at CPO Peshawar which had been arranged in honour of BDU jawan who defused a fitted IED with great professional skill.
It merits mention here that on that day a big bang was heard in the vicinity of police station Daudzai on Shakarpura road which was later on identified as an IED planted near the plugging point with the intention to target the police officials. As a result a police constable sustained injuries who later on succumbed to injuries. The BDU team rushed to the spot and started sweeping the area, the team noticed another explosive device and HC Zahid of BDU was tasked to defuse the same.
The area was properly cordoned off and at the meantime when HC Zahid of BDU was engaged in defusing the IED, the same blasted with a huge explosion and HC Zahid was thrown away from the spot by the shock waves of the explosion, luckily he survived and remained safe due to safety gears. The people gathered on the occasion witnessing the whole episode highly appreciated the bold and courageous performance of the BDU Unit by shouting slogans of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police Zindabad, Pakistan Paindabad.
Addressing the ceremony the IGP Nasir Khan Durrani informed that BDU jawans were performing frontline role in war against terror and it could be gauged from the fact that its jawan successfully defused more than six thousands bombs in line of duty and thus saved the people from huge holocaust and catastrophic. The IGP termed the BDU jawan precious asset of the force and wished for more achievements and success in their professional career. The IGP awarded BDU team HC Zahid, Sub Inspector Irshad and HCs Sajad and Shakir with cash prizes and commendation certificates.
