About 1,000 People Expected To Take Part In Vienna's WWII Immortal Regiment March -Charity

VIENNA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th March, 2019) About 1,000 people are expected to participate in the Immortal Regiment march that aims to commemorate the heroes of World War II in the Austrian capital on May 9, Austria's non-profit public organization Memory said on Monday.

"We would like to recall that over 800 people took part in the event in Vienna last year ... This year we expect about 1,000 participants," the center said.

The march will be as always held near the Soviet Heroes' Monument of the Red Army at Vienna's Schwarzenbergplatz square.

The "Immortal Regiment" is a patriotic initiative where people march with photos of their family members who fought in World War II. The first march took place in 2012 in Russia's Tomsk, and has since become a global phenomenon.
