Death Toll In Flash Floods In Eastern Indonesia Reaches 63 People - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th March, 2019) The number of people who have lost their lives in flash floods that hit Indonesia's eastern Papua province has reached 63 people as rescuers have recovered more bodies of the victims, media reported on Sunday, citing a local official.

Earlier in the day, media reported that the flash floods, triggered by heavy rains in the province's northern Jayapura district on Saturday evening, had killed at least 42 people.

A spokesman for the Papua search and rescue authorities said that dozens of people were still missing, Xinhua news Agency reported.

Saturday's deadly flash floods come less than two months after floods and landslides in the country's South Sulawesi province claimed the lives of almost 70 people.
