ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / NNI - 16th March, 2019) :Six Pakistanis were martyred in the terrorist attack on two mosques at Christchurch, New Zealand, yesterday.This was confirmed by Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal in a statement on twitter Saturday.He said New Zealand authorities have announced Sohail Shahid; Syed Jahandad Ali (Lahore); Syed Areeb Ahmed (Karachi); Mahboob Haroon (Islamabad); Naeem Rashid (Abbotabad); and his son Talha Naeem (Abbotabad) dead.

Pakistan Association of New Zealand General Secretary Asim Mukhtar reported that currently six Pakistanis have died, one is injured and three are missing. He identified the injured as 65 year old Mohammad Amin who was visiting New Zealand and is currently in the hospital. He said no information on the death or injury of three more persons Zeeshan Ahmed and his parents Karam Bibi and Ghulam Rasool has been received yet. He said he would be visiting the ICU of the hospital to check their whereabouts.

"Mr Naeem Rasheed and his son will be buried in Christchurch. Arrangements for the burial are in place. Muslim [and] Pakistani Association in the city has assisted in arrangements. Mission is working with families of other 4 victims for possible transport of dead bodies to Pakistan," tweeted Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal.The Spokesperson said three other Pakistanis are still missing."The latest information about other three missing Pakistanis will be shared once their identity is confirmed by the local authorities.

The Ministry expresses its deepest condolences and sympathies with the families of the victims of this atrocious terrorist attack," a Foreign Office statement said Saturday.The Crisis Management Cell at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad and the High Commission of Pakistan in Wellington, New Zealand, are working for assistance to the families including visas (if required) and transportation of the dead bodies to Pakistan, at the earliest.

Dr. Muhammad Faisal said New Zealand police has circulated seventy four Names of missing persons as reported by families and diplomatic representatives. He said they have informed that they have forty nine dead bodies.In the aftermath of terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand yesterday, a Crisis Management Cell has been established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad.The cell will address the developing situation and update on the well being of and latest information of Pakistani citizens living in New Zealand.
