BRASILIA, (Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2019) H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has visited the Cathedral of Brasilia in Brazil, which is one of the most important landmarks in Brasilia.

Sheikh Abdullah toured the Cathedral and listened to a detailed explanation about its history. The Cathedral exterior is dominated by 16 curved concrete columns, each weighing 90 tonnes. These curve inwards, meeting briefly before branching back outwards and upwards to give the structure its hyperboloid, or hourglass, shape. It bears some resemblance to a white crown, or crown of thorns, in this case rising up to a height of about 131 feet.

The Cathedral of Brasilia was declared a national historic and artistic monument on 15th July, 1990.

Sheikh Abdullah was accompanied by Hafsa Abdulla Al Ulama, UAE Ambassador to Brazil.
