National Workshop on ‘Affordable Housing’ was held yesterday at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi

Karachi (Pakistan Point News - 15th March, 2019) National Workshop on ‘Affordable Housing’ was held yesterday at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. The workshop primarily focused on the technological innovations & construction materials which can turn the Government of Pakistan’s (GoP) dream of affordable housing into reality. Governor Sindh, Mr. Imran Ismail was the Chief Guest of this Workshop. Other dignitaries included Mr.

Zaigham Rizvi (Chair of Prime Minister; Task Committee on Affordable Housing), Dr. Sarosh H. Lodi (Vice Chancellor NED University of Engineering & Technology) along with prominent leaders from Educational, Industrial & Government Sectors of Pakistan. Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited (EPCL) manufacturer of PVC resin (raw material) in Pakistan participated in the event to promote PVC end consumer products used in construction industry.

EPCL not only show-cased variety of PVC finished products but also created awareness of locally manufactured PVC products thus increasing the knowledge of the participants on how these products hold the key for reducing the overall cost of affordable housing project. Mr. Abdul Qayoom Shaikh (GM Marketing) led EPCL’s delegation at the event and shared that PVC products can play a vital role in improving the esthetics of houses constructed under the Affordable Housing Scheme.

Imran Anwar, CEO Engro Polymers and Chemicals Limited added "The Affordable Housing scheme is a great initiative of the GoP which will help to the quality of lives of great many people. We would like to extend our support to this initiative and would like to work with the GoP to reduce the cost of the project by using PVC based local application used in construction". This event has further accelerated the start of collaboration between Academia, Industry & Government for not just knowledge sharing but also creating an eco-system where stake-holders from across Pakistan can work together for success of Naya Pakistan Housing Project.
