Pakistan to introduce helicopter service for tourist spots in northern areas

The move is aimed at promoting tourism in northern areas of the country.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 14th March, 2019) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is planning to introduce helicopter service in northern areas.

Media reports said that the government, aimed at promoting tourism in the country, has decided to issue license to a private airline to start helicopter service in northern areas.

The decision has been taken upon the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The firms desiring to launch heli service at tourist spots will be issued licenses in two months. The license will be valid for five years.

The heli service license will not allow air services for places other than the decided tourist areas. The license will be limited to tourist spots in northern areas of the country.

The fare of this helicopter service will be less than that of other airlines.

The move is aimed at promoting tourism in northern areas of the country.

Media reports said that initially, licenses for helicopter service will be issued for two tourist spots. Licenses for other tourist areas will then follow.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) currently take the passengers to limited northern areas. However, the prime minister has now decided to introduce helicopter service for more areas on priority basis.

This will enable the local and foreign tourists to enjoy fast and safe travel in an affordable way.

The helicopter service has been included for the first time in 2019 in the country’s Aviation Policy.

The Civil Aviation Authority and Federal Minister for Privatisation and Aviation Muhammad Mian Soomro have been directed in this regard.
