Ice heroin smuggling bid foiled at Peshawar Airport

The customs authorities recovered 950 gram ice from a passenger’s bag at Bacha Khan Airport.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 14th March, 2019) The customs authorities foiled a heroin smuggling bid at Peshawar Airport on Thursday.

According to details, the customs authorities recovered 950 gram ice from a passenger’s bag at Bacha Khan Airport.

Customs officials said that accused Jamshed belongs to Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The passenger was flying to Saudi Arabia via private airline.

The assistant collector said that the recovered ice heroin was worth Rs 90.6 million.

A case has been registered against the accused after arresting him.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) foiled a bid to smuggle liquor into Pakistan.

Over 65,000 liquor bottles and beer cans were recovered from the boat in the action.

The PMSA took action upon an intelligence tip-off and deployed aircrafts along the sea routes.

The maritime agency’s boat followed the suspicious boat late on March 11 and caught it near Makran post.

While searching the boat, the agency recovered over 65,000 liquor bottles and beer cans. The liquor taken in custody was worth Rs 0.4 billion.

All seven persons on the boat were also arrested. The customs department had also helped the PMSA in the action.

According to PMSA, this was the biggest operation of country’s history.
