ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Nov, 2016 ) : State Minister for Privatization Muhammad Zubair Umar Monday said Imran Khan failed to produce evidence before Supreme Court in the case of Panama Papers.
Addressing a press conference here, he said there was no inconsistency in the court replies and media statements of the children of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The children exactly said what they had been saying all along about trusteeship, shareholdings and ownership of flats in London, he added.
He said the Sharif family would present all the relevant documents about ownership and purchase of flats in Supreme Court next week. The documents before the court would clarify position of the Sharif family, he added.
Zubair said he repeatedly asked Imran Khan not to just level allegations rather present evidence, but he failed to do so. The lawyer of PTI said in the Supreme Court that he had no evidence, he said adding Imran Khan should admit before the public that he had no proof to substantiate his charges.
He said in public meetings and on the container, Imran Khan shouted hoarse that Panama papers was the biggest corruption of Pakistan. However, PTI had no documents to show in the Supreme Court.
He said Imran Khan levelled same kind of allegations in 2014 but when the matter came to the court, he had no evidence to justify his claims of rigging in elections. Pakistan Muslim League (N) member National Assembly Daniyal Aziz criticized the media for constantly airing false and fabricated programmes about children of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
He said International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) deleted name of the Prime Minister after initially including it on its website and later admitted that name of PM was not in the Panama Papers.
Daniyal said it was submitted in the court that children of the Prime Minister were not dependents on him. He said Imran Khan had wrongly alleged in 2014 about rigging in elections and all his charges were later proved wrong by a Supreme Court judicial commission.
Afzal Khan, a retired official of Election Commission, made allegations of rigging in elections but later apologized in court in response to an application of Chief Justice (R) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, he recalled.
He said now another person, a former deputy prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Akbar claimed in media programme that NAB had all the documents of Sharif family case. He said if NAB had documents then it should make it public, adding these kinds of people were creating chaos, adding a section of media was reproducing unfounded allegations to create doubts in minds of the people.
Daniyal said Supreme Court had also asked Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen to submit their replies on Tuesday during next week. Imran Khan should provide all details in Supreme Court about his offshore company Niazi Services Limited, losses in offshore companies and dealings with Indian businessmen.
Imran Khan have to answer about irregularities in tax returns, property in Bani Gala and an apartment in Grand Hyatt in Islamabad, he added. Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha said the Prime Minister and his family did not contest maintainability of the case which they could have done.
He said Imran Khan was making tall claims but he could not back up his allegations made during public meetings.
