Peshawar High Court stops NAB from arresting Amir Muqam without arrest warrants

Peshawar High Court (PHC) has stopped NAB from arresting PML-N former MNA Amir Muqam without issuance of his arrest warrants

Peshawar (Pakistan Point News / Online - 13th March, 2019) Peshawar High Court (PHC) has stopped NAB from arresting PML-N former MNA Amir Muqam without issuance of his arrest warrants.PHC took up the case seeking pre-arrest bail of PML-N leader for hearing on Wednesday.During the course of hearing, Counsel of Amir Muqam took the plea that an inquiry is being run in the NAB against Amir Muqam for having assets beyond known sources of income.Counsel said that NAB calls people for inquiry and then arrest them therefore court should stop NAB from arresting Amir Muqam without issuance of his arrest warrants.

Upon it court remarked that, "NAB will not arrest Amir Muqam without his arrest warrants"Justice Musarrat Hilali observed that NAB should do investigation but if it wants to arrest then it should issue arrest warrants 10 days earlier and then make an arrest.NAB prosecutor Azeem Dad said that NAB didn't issue the arrest warrant and currently doing only inquiry.Upon it Justice Hilali remarked that it has been NAB's practice that it calls people for inquiry and then take them seat.Court while seeking reply from NAB adjourning the hearing.It is vital to mention here that last year in April; NAB had decided to launch investigation against PML-N President Amir Muqam for having assets beyond known sources of income.
